Snapchat's 'Director Mode' editing tools are finally ready to use

Snapchat has finally released its long-awaited video editing suite, "Director Mode" to all its Android and iOS users. This feature will allow creators to edit their Snaps with virtual green screens, camera speed changes, and quick editing for multiple clips. The BeReal-style Dual Camera functionality is also available within this mode but is currently limited to iOS users. Android users will have access to two camera recordings in the coming weeks.

Director Mode is expected to be useful for influencers who want to produce videos for Spotlight, Snapchat's platform for TikTok-like short videos. It will also be helpful for verified users, Snap Stars, who want to add more of the sheen to all their online content.

Snapchat is not alone in the competition against TikTok and similar rivals. Instagram is also testing a feature called Candid Challenges, which mimics BeReal. Social media giants have been known to borrow elements from each other to remain competitive, sometimes leading to them having to backtrack their plans after mimicking designs too closely. Social networks are becoming similar to one another, with differences that may only be subtle.
